  1. Warranty and Guarantees

OpenInspiration provides this warranty for its products that have been purchased in New Zealand. This Warranty is subject to the Consumer Law and covers the replacement or repair of any product that has a manufacturing or material defect that is not the result of normal wear and tear, or a natural characteristic of the material used. The Warranty period commences from the date of sale:

  • A 2 year Warranty for tables and root art furniture.

Note:

  1. Timber products are natural material and therefore subject to change and movement. Normal wear and tear, changes to the appearance of the item due to normal expansion and contraction of timber as it reacts to climatic changes in its environment, improper care and damage from sunlight and excessive temperature are not covered under this Warranty.
  2. Natural variations in colour, knots, and stress marks are not considered as manufacturing or material defects and not covered under this Warranty.
  • A 1 year Warranty for MDF display cabinets, chairs, shelves, trolley, wine glass, luxury gift sets, and sculptures.

Note:

  1. MDF furniture does not react well with moisture. Keep MDF furniture in a dry room and wipe spills up immediately.
  2. The weight limit for chairs is 100kg. The Warranty does not apply if the customer’s weight is heavier than the weight limit.
  3. Glass and porcelain components may contain air bubbles, slight scratching and subtle waviness, which can occur naturally and not considered as a manufacturing or material defect and not covered under this Warranty.
  4. Colour fading in some glass product, such as coloured diamante wine glass, will occur as a result of normal use and aging and are not considered as manufacturing or material defects and not covered under this Warranty.

This Warranty is not transferable and does not cover products used for the commercial purposes. This Warranty does not cover finishing including stitching, glue, nails, and tacks. This Warranty also does not apply to any products sold as seconds, floor stock, repaired products or products that have a defect that has been drawn to your attention before you purchased the products. Moreover, this Warranty will not apply if:

  • The customer uses the product in an abnormal manner. E.g. if the product is misused, dropped, crushed, impacted with any hard surface, exposed to extreme heat (including fire and hot water) or cold, not maintained properly.
  • The product has been modified, adjusted or operated wrongly, subjected to incorrect electrical supply or inconsistent electrical supply.
  • This product is tampered with in anyway.

  1. How to make a claim

To claim under this Warranty or a Consumer Guarantee, you must return the product for repair or inspection to the store of purchase at your cost, including any freight and insurance charges, together with the original sales receipt or another form of proof of purchase. We will assess the product to determine the nature of the issue, whether you are entitled to a remedy. In the case of a minor failure, the remedy will be made available to you. Sometimes, we will need to liaise with the manufacturer or repair agent. We will do our best to fix the problem in a timely manner. If the product cannot be easily returned to the store due to the size, we will arrange for the product to be assessed or request photographic evidence. If the product has suffered a major failure, OpenInspiration will organize a replacement and collection of the product at no charge to you.

  1. Product Care and Maintenance

There are many factors that will affect the look of your furniture over time such as sun exposure, salt, dust, rain and moisture. Maintenance is important for the longevity of your new furniture. Protecting your furniture from the elements and regular cleaning are essential. Please see the instructions below.

Timber furniture:

  • Customers must thoroughly wipe clean your furniture after unpacking and assembling, and then apply furniture oil on the surface of your furniture and let dry. Immediate oiling of your furniture is crucial to the longevity of your furniture.
  • After oiling, wipe off excess oil, allow oil to dry for few hours, and then wipe off again with a clean rag to remove any excess oil that may not have penetrated into the timber. The frequency of oiling will depend on the climatic conditions in your area and direct exposure to the elements, such as sunlight, your furniture is subjected to. Generally, timber needs to be oiled 4-6 a year.
  • Upon purchasing your furniture, small hairline cracks may appear, this is part of the drying process. These cracks will not deter the durability of the furniture.

Glass products:

  • Do not drop or strike the glass products
  • Avoid direct sunlight exposure to this type of glass products containing colour component
  • Never use boiling hot water to clean the glass products
